Almost every major New York show runs at the Jacob K. Javits Center on Manhattan's West Side — the largest convention center in the Northeast, expanded in 2021 with a new hall and rooftop pavilion. It's a spectacular venue with an unforgiving constraint: it sits in the middle of Manhattan, so everything about freight, staging and move-in is shaped by the city around it. That's the reality we plan for first.

New York's Union Floor

Javits runs on three principal union jurisdictions, and the lines are firm. The Teamsters unload trucks and move all freight to and from your booth (drayage). Electricians make every power connection and provide overload protection — you can supply your own 12/3 grounded cords, but the house ties them in. Carpenters and Decorators handle booth and carpet installation. Exhibitors may hand-carry small items but can't access the docks or use material-handling equipment. Our crews are built around these jurisdictions, so the trades are scheduled in the right sequence and nothing sits idle.

Freight into Manhattan

This is the hard part of New York, and where a local-versus-cross-country partner is felt most. From our Las Vegas warehouse it's roughly a 5 days transit across the country; we stage the delivery to hit Javits's assigned move-in window rather than fighting Midtown traffic blind. Miss the target time in Manhattan and there's nowhere cheap to wait. We build in buffer and coordinate the marshaling so your crates arrive when the dock is ready for them.

What Drives the New York Number

Getting to Hudson Yards

The 7 subway line runs straight to 34th Street–Hudson Yards, a short walk from Javits, and Penn Station is close by — useful for a booth team commuting daily. Three airports serve the city: JFK, LaGuardia (LGA) and Newark (EWR), with Newark often the easiest for freight and crews coming from the west.

When New York Shows Cluster

The calendar front-loads the year: NRF’s Big Show fills Javits in January and Toy Fair follows in February, back-to-back peaks when labor and hotels are tightest. Reserve 3–5 months out for either; New York move-in windows are too compressed to improvise.
