THE LATEST TRENDS IN EXHIBIT DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY

Every year brings along with it new trends, new ideas, new theories, and new developments.

Thanks to developments in technology like Virtual Reality, Interactive Displays, etc, exciting trends are happening in the world of trade shows and exhibitions. Exhibit Design in the years ahead will become more refined, more interactive, and more immersive. As a result, visitors will be savoring the delight of a more enjoyable experience like never before.

There will also be a greater focus on sustainability. Exhibitors have recognized the need for eco-friendly exhibits and exhibit designs that have sustainability as a part of the design theme.

LATEST TRENDS IN EXHIBIT DESIGN

Like every other industry, the exhibition industry too witnesses new trends every year. What will make the new trends fascinating is that they will be driven by technology.

Understanding the latest of the trends in exhibit design can help you to make your participation in exhibition shows memorable; and also, realize your goals in the exhibition shows.

USE OF LEDs (LIGHT EMITTING DIODES) DISPLAYS

Over the past few years, the cost of LEDs has drastically come down. They have not only become more affordable but have also become more sophisticated. This has come as a boon to exhibitors; and their presence can be seen on most trade show floors.

The past few years have seen two of the most remarkable developments in LED technology. One is the development of Curved Transparent LEDs. There was a time in the past when the construction of LEDs was possible only as a part of a flat wall of roughly 6 inches thick. Thanks to developments in LED technologies, it is possible for exhibitors to build anything with LEDs, including organic shapes in exhibit design. Trade shows in the year 2022 saw a lot of these new trends which is expected to continue to thrive in 2023 and become even better in the years to come.

The year 2022 also saw the use of immersive LEDs. Immersive LEDs involves the use of lights that are magnetic which can be easily adhered to a metal structure in a way that enables formation of all kinds of exhibit designs. Additionally, immersive LEDs also enable the exhibitors to create three-dimensional experience without the need for any kind of wires or headsets. This allows the viewers to enjoy the experience as a whole rather than enjoy one at a time as is the case with Virtual Reality.

Another trend is LED tunnels. The year 2022 witnessed quite a few LED tunnels in square and round shape on the trade show floor. With the price of LEDs dropping drastically leading to the easy availability of more rental kits for tunnels, the trend is expected to grow in 2023 and evolve further in the years to come.

The year 2022 also witnessed the evolution of LED flooring to a new level. Thanks to developments in technology, the new version of floor LEDs come with powerful resolution that matches the resolution of the floor as well as walls. As a result of this, the exhibitors can now have animations, graphics, and video show on the floor as well as the wall.

USE OF INTERACTIVE DISPLAYS

For quite some time now, exhibitors have been using exhibits that incorporate technology like Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Touchscreen Kiosks, and above all, Interactive Displays. They all help to create high class immersive experience in an engaging way for the visitors to the show.

Already a hot flavor for some years now, interactive displays will become a major trend in 2023 and beyond. What makes them so good is that they convey and retain information by engaging the viewers through an array of media and online mediums on multiple sensory levels; and facilitate active engagement with the objects on display.  Besides they also incorporate interactive elements like hands-on demos or games, which engage the visitors; get them stay glued to the interactive displays; and above all, make their experience more memorable.

There has also been a trend towards creating personalized experiences for the visitors. Like for instance, customizing the event in line with the interests of the visitors; or providing them the opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops or demos.

USE OF ECO-FRIENDLY, SOPHISTICATED LIGHTING

Exhibitors are leveraging lighting technology like never before.

Modern lighting systems are highly sophisticated and eco-friendly. A good example is that of LED lighting and monitors which help to not only make the exhibit design look eco-friendly but also make them shine.

Overall, the current trends will focus more on creative lighting designs that aim to create spaces in exhibits with atmosphere that takes people’s emotional well-being and experience into account.

FOCUS ON SUSTAINIBILITY

With the threat of climate change real and looming large, sustainability has become the new flavor around the world. Exhibitors too have realized the need for sustainable exhibiting.

Organic design has popular with exhibitors. The shift to organic design began in the post-COVID 19 phase with companies resorting to clean lines and bright white exhibits. This was driven by the need to provide comfortable spaces for the visitors with focus on their health and wellness; and making the exhibits more approachable to them.

Aside from organic design, exhibit designs today have organic shapes and are made with organic materials.  The first decade of 2000s saw the presence of square and boxy looking exhibit designs. That trend has passed and the year 2023 will see focus on organic architecture that is full of nature-inspired curves and shapes. Glossy materials that once were the norm will come to be replaced by soft, organic materials. The whole approach towards these trends will be driven by the need to look not only futuristic and high-tech but also by the need to maintain sustainability in and around the exhibition event environs.

Another trend that is gaining ground rapidly is greenery and living walls. The year 2022 saw a lot of exhibitors using exhibits with a living or artificial greenery wall. This was driven by the desire to send across a message emphasizing the need for sustainability in all walks of life.

OTHER HOT TRENDS

The world of exhibitions will also see the use of Hologram Technology. Two types of holograms are already hot trends. One is Proto Hologram which allows the exhibitors to beam the visitors into their exhibit live from a distance. As a result, the visitor being beamed in will be able to see and hear the crowd at the trade show and savor the most realistic experience.

The other category of hologram that is making waves is Looking Glass Hologram. It comprises of a large monitor that offers the visitors a 3D view of the exhibitor’s booth as they walk around the booth. Aside from this, they also make a stunning impact on the trade show booth floor.

3D content is another trend that is catching on fast in the world of exhibition events. They are already used in public spaces like Times Square in New York. 3D content involves the use of volumetric LEDs (they are very good for displaying 3D logos or providing visual effects).

As the market competition heats up, even in trade shows, exhibitors will put customers at the top of their focus. They will go all out to make their clients and prospective clients feel comfortable by providing them comfortable lounges with a comfortable setting. These will come to replace meeting spaces in booths; and are known to facilitate natural and friendly conversations and build trust with the visitors. In a way, the exhibits will become more like the visitors’ own homes, thus helping to make them feel more at ease and at home.
